An Indian spice processor contacted us to find a suitable cumin seed screening machine for grading whole cumin seeds. The material was dry, with a moisture content below 9% and a bulk density of approximately 0.50 kg/L.
The customer needed to process 600 kg of cumin seeds per hour using 3 mm and 1 mm screens. They also wanted a quick-release structure so their operators could inspect and replace the screens easily.

In addition to screening capacity, the customer was concerned about screen replacement and production line layout. The machine needed to fit the available workshop space and connect smoothly with the existing process.
Discussing the Screening Process
Before selecting the machine, our team confirmed whether the material was whole cumin seed or cumin powder. We also checked its moisture content, bulk density, required screen openings and target capacity. These are important factors in linear vibrating screen selection.
The customer needed two-stage screening. The two screen decks would separate oversized material, the required cumin seed fraction and smaller particles through different outlets.
We then discussed the installation area, feeding direction and discharge arrangement. Based on the customer’s workshop conditions, a linear vibrating screen was more suitable than a round screening machine. Its straight material flow made it easier to arrange the inlet and outlets within the existing production line.
The customer also expected to use different screens for future production. For this reason, easy screen access was an important part of the design. After confirming these details, both sides agreed on the YJZ-820-2 model.

We supplied a YJZ-820-2 linear cumin seed screening machine with two screen decks. This multi-deck screening design used a 3 mm screen on the upper deck and a 1 mm screen on the lower deck.
This arrangement allowed the customer to separate the cumin seeds into different size groups in one screening process. Each fraction could leave the machine through its own outlet for collection or further processing.
The screen frame used a quick-release structure. Operators could open the machine more easily when inspecting, cleaning or replacing the screens. This was especially useful because the customer might need to change screen sizes for different spice products.
All parts in contact with the cumin seeds were made of stainless steel. The remaining machine structure was made of carbon steel. This combination met the customer’s material-contact requirements while keeping the overall equipment cost reasonable.

Each size fraction is discharged through a separate outlet. This makes collection easier and supports the customer’s following processing or packing steps.
Customer Confirmation
After reviewing the machine layout, screen sizes, material selection, power supply and quick-release structure, the customer confirmed the YJZ-820-2 linear vibrating screen.
The final solution met the customer’s main requirements for capacity, two-stage grading, convenient screen replacement and workshop installation. The machine configuration was then approved for production.
