What Is a Circular Tumbler Screen?
The circular tumbler screen is a versatile, high-efficiency screening machine specially designed to meet requirements for high throughput and high precision. Its motion trajectory closely mimics manual screening by combining planar circular motion (sifting) with upward parabolic motion (tossing); by adjusting the radial and tangential angles, near-perfect screening results can be achieved.
It offers screening precision exceeding 95% and a processing capacity three to five times that of standard screening machines, with a screen lifespan five to ten times longer than conventional equipment. It is suitable for screening fine and ultra-fine powders and granular materials, and is particularly well-suited for high-throughput applications involving materials that are difficult to screen.
Features of Circular Tumbler Screen
1. It achieves a processing capacity per unit area up to five times greater than that of traditional screening equipment, such as rotary vibrating screens or linear screens.
2. It effectively simulates the motion and process of manual screening; materials follow an involute spiral trajectory across the screen surface, traveling a longer distance within a given area, which results in screening precision as high as 99%.
3. Featuring an ingenious modular, circular design, the equipment is compact and lightweight with optimized weight balance, resulting in low dynamic foundation loads. Installation and disassembly are simple. The discharge outlet can be adjusted 360° around the circumference, facilitating flexible process layout.
4. It operates at low frequencies and low loads, with acceleration levels 4.5 times lower than those of standard vibrating screens. The low vertical acceleration of material particles minimizes screen damage, extends screen and equipment service life, and reduces operating and maintenance costs.
5. The gentle gyratory screening drive system exerts minimal stress on the equipment and the material being screened; it preserves the original structure of the particles and is unlikely to generate static electricity.
6. The fully enclosed structure ensures excellent sealing and dust containment, virtually eliminating material dust leakage; this makes the process more environmentally friendly and ensures safer working conditions for operators.
Working Principle of the Circular Tumbler Screen
The tumbler screening machine simulates manual screening. Upon entering the screen surface, material spreads evenly outward while undergoing a combination of gentle, high-frequency bouncing and rotational movement—a process best described as a three-dimensional tumbling motion involving both horizontal and vertical (bouncing) components. Smaller particles pass through to the next screen deck, while larger particles—unable to pass through—are conveyed to the discharge outlet of the current deck, thereby completing the screening process. This mode of motion not only enhances screening efficiency but also minimizes material clogging and accumulation, ultimately reducing equipment maintenance costs.
